My Friend Is Back!

 

Look, my little friend is back!

We’ve had a gecko living on our deck for several years now, but I didn’t see him during the winter, so I wasn’t sure if he was still in residence here. Turns out he is!

Look at that bright green. Sherwin Williams could develop a family of paint colors based on that shade of green.

I like my gecko. He eats bugs, and he mostly keeps to himself.

The first time I saw a gecko, we were considering a move to Carolina and our realtor was showing us some houses in the area. We walked into the living room of one particular house and there was a gecko, on top of the couch. I jumped and yelled, “Lizard!”

Our realtor smiled and said, “Gecko.”

Strangely, that made it all okay.

He doesn’t have a British accent, nor does he remind me about car insurance and all things mundane. He’s just an unassuming little creature that appears on occasion, absorbed in his next quest to devour an insect that might otherwise bother me.

 I like that.
