Last week, I found the small people playing a new game.
Apparently, it’s called “Lookout.”
I noticed my eldest was holding a telescope, so I asked them what they were looking out for.
Their answer was illuminating.
“We don’t know. Stuff.”
“Like pirates?” I asked excitedly.
Pause. “Could be.”
“Saber-toothed alien robots?” I tried.
They just stared at me.
“Oh, I know. It’s either Star Wars or Indiana Jones or Lord of the Rings fighters of some sort,” I guessed, based on the latest recurring small people themes.
“Um, not really.”
“Bad guys?” I offered weakly.
Pause. “I suppose.”
Know what I think?
“Lookout” is just an excuse to hang out.
Which is fine by me.
