Saturday, we finished unpacking the last of the boxes from our move. Well, with the exception of a couple of my old boxes of teaching materials sitting in the garage right now. Which I’ll hurry up and do right after I post this, because we all know how likely it is that I may need to whip out a tenth grade pop quiz on gerunds for the small people someday soon.

You just never know when a set of old grammar tests might come in handy around the house.

Like, probably never. Specifically, the never that means for all of eternity never.

But I digress over a hypothetical of no merit.

So now I undigress. And you see the general directionlessness this post is already taking. Don’t look for a thesis statement in this one; I can already sense that there won’t be one.

We also spent time at Home Depot and Lowes Saturday night, much to the small people’s complete and utter boredom, deliberating over flooring options for the small finished area of our ground floor. As you might recall, we bought a house that had pet-loving renters in it prior to our move. Did I mention that these pets were either simply not housebroken or were, but clearly suffered from continual bladder malfunctions? Yes, unfortunately for us, it’s true. The carpet in two of the bedrooms had to be replaced when the tenants moved out, in fact, presumably because of the “accidents.”

So, needless to say, the remaining carpet has to go, and we have now narrowed down our new flooring options to wood laminate, and are trying to decide between these two shades.

The fact that they are both on sale has <del>everything</del> nothing to do with why we chose these two shades. Since this area is essentially just an owner entryway that houses the washer and dryer, and is not really an area anyone will spend much time in (except me, The Family Laundress), we really don’t much care one way or the other. Pretty much, I just want the seriously gross out of my house. It’s fraying my nerves, folks, and driving me to thesislessness. And made-up words.

Then, Sunday afternoon, we decided to go for a walk/bike ride. Basically, the boys wanted to ride their bikes, LCB and I wanted to walk, and my daughter wanted to do a combination of walking and riding in her stroller.

It appears that we also reentered what I call the Yee-haw Phase. It’s just one of those largely inexplicable things.

So, when we went for a walk/bike ride later that day, my younger son rode cowboy style, and I bit my tongue, not wanting to embarrass my kids with my unbridled enthusiasm in public.

It was hard.
