{"id":4099,"date":"2017-12-20T18:11:02","date_gmt":"2017-12-20T22:11:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?p=4099"},"modified":"2018-04-12T23:21:54","modified_gmt":"2018-04-13T03:21:54","slug":"tis-week-christmas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?p=4099","title":{"rendered":"\u00e2\u20ac\u02dcTis the Week Before Christmas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=4101\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4101\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-4101\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/tis-the-week-slider-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"697\" height=\"523\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/tis-the-week-slider-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/tis-the-week-slider-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/tis-the-week-slider-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/tis-the-week-slider-640x480.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 697px) 100vw, 697px\" \/><\/a>\u00e2\u20ac\u02dcTis the week before Christmas, and all through the island house, all the creatures are stirring and have already accomplished the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Baked Christmas cookies twice<\/li>\n<li>Shopped with a ten-year-old girl for another ten-year-old girl (a harrowing and laborious feat)<\/li>\n<li>Attended one Christmas party<\/li>\n<li>Missed one Christmas party (long story)<\/li>\n<li>Discovered, after all our paring down, that we still have multiple white elephant gift options in our house<a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=4104\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4104\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-4104\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/100_3463-2-2-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"697\" height=\"523\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/100_3463-2-2-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/100_3463-2-2-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/100_3463-2-2-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/100_3463-2-2-640x480.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 697px) 100vw, 697px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Put up two Christmas trees (both inside\u00e2\u20ac\u201d<a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?p=879\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">I learned my lesson back in 2011<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Attempted to make two foam Christmas trees in beachy blue colors without directions or supervision from those who know how to craft<\/li>\n<li>Shopped online, in small local island shops, and in larger mainland stores for gifts for people aged five to eighty-five<\/li>\n<li>Bought three new coastal Christmas ornaments<\/li>\n<li>Watched <em>How the Grinch Stole Christmas <\/em>and <em>A Charlie Brown Christmas<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Lined up <em>A Christmas Story<\/em>, <em>It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a Wonderful Life<\/em>, <em>Elf<\/em>, and <em>The Polar Express<\/em> so they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re ready to go for this weekend<a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=4105\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4105\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-4105\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/100_0692-2-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"697\" height=\"523\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/100_0692-2-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/100_0692-2-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/100_0692-2-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/100_0692-2-640x480.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 697px) 100vw, 697px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Dreamed of light snowfall on a warm sea<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Over the next few days, we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll add to this list. And then, on Christmas Eve, just when we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve settled down for a long winter\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s nap, out on the beach will arise such a clatter that we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll spring from our beds to see what is the matter. We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll hear the prancing and pawing of each little hoof, and we&#8217;ll know in a moment it must be St. Nick. Later, as away they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll all fly (over the Atlantic) like the down of a thistle, we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll hear him exclaim ere he drives out of sight, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Merry Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>My thanks to Clement C.
