Even when LCB and the neighbors showed up and my flash went rogue, he remained.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=2948\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2948\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2948\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/IMG_8974-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_8974\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/IMG_8974-1024x682.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/IMG_8974-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a>I think he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s an old soul.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know why he chose our deck out of all the decks in the world, but given that his appearances have coincided with the advent of autumn, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d like to think it has something to do with George Eliot\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s sentiments about the season. She says of autumn, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Delicious autumn. My soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking successive autumns.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=2949\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2949\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2949\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/IMG_8976-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_8976\" width=\"640\" height=\"426\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/IMG_8976-1024x682.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/IMG_8976-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a>So perhaps he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a bird flying about the islands, catching the beginning changes of the season on the coast: the humidity now broken, the Atlantic currents now losing their bath water temperatures, the hints of gold soon to erupt on the salt marsh.<\/p>\n<p>I guess I should be on the same page as Mary Ann (i.e., George), but I can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t help but be reminded of the <a title=\"I Have This Thing About Birds\" href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?p=75\" target=\"_blank\">aviary species\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 penchant for \u00e2\u20ac\u0153gifting\u00e2\u20ac\u009d me<\/a>. Even more so, his successive visits are reminding me of a similar series of events that led to <a title=\"The Pelican Watch\" href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?p=1097\" target=\"_blank\">the now defunct Pelican Watch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And so, after more than two stalk-free years, perhaps it begins again.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our bird from last week has returned twice now, each time staying longer than the time before.
