{"id":2578,"date":"2013-12-06T20:54:46","date_gmt":"2013-12-07T00:54:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?p=2578"},"modified":"2013-12-06T20:54:46","modified_gmt":"2013-12-07T00:54:46","slug":"st-nicholas-day-fun-christmas-tidbits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?p=2578","title":{"rendered":"More St. Nicholas Day Fun and Other Christmas Tidbits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=2574\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2574\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2574\" alt=\"IMG_6405\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMG_6405-1024x682.jpg\" width=\"637\" height=\"426\" \/><\/a>So, we celebrated St. Nicholas Day again this year.<\/p>\n<p>In case you are wondering, yes, <a title=\"Celebrating St. Nicholas Day\" href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?p=836\">the small people\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s shoes are being placed in a more orderly fashion<\/a> as the years go on. <del>This is what happens when you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re up late grading and suddenly remember to make the necessary arrangements for St. Nick\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s visit<\/del>. St. Nick gets neater every year, it seems.<\/p>\n<p>Hey, and <a title=\"Elf on a Shelf and Other Christmas Traditions\" href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?p=2185\">none of the presents arrived broken this time<\/a>, so we had that going for us.<\/p>\n<p>Baby-girl made me cringe a little when she discovered the shoes sitting by the fireplace. Her face lit up for a second, and then she said, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Just don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t let my shoe get smooshed.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>Come again? I must have given her a strange look, because she followed her imperative with a query, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Those are my best pair, right?\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n<p>Indeed they are. Henceforth, in the land of Baby-girl, used shoes will take precedence over brand-new, unidentifiable presents.<\/p>\n<p>And in other news,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=2575\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2575\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2575\" alt=\"IMG_6392\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMG_6392-1024x682.jpg\" width=\"637\" height=\"426\" \/><\/a>Baby-girl, of her own volition, made her own ornaments out of shells she found. Using some extra supplies from some crafts she made earlier in the week, she sat down at the table unnoticed and quietly created these.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=2576\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2576\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2576\" alt=\"IMG_6394\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMG_6394-1024x843.jpg\" width=\"635\" height=\"526\" \/><\/a>I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know where she got her craftiness from, because it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s certainly not from me.
