Also like most of you, I suspect, time constraints live large in my world. And yet the stories are still there, many ones I hope to someday tell. It seems a shame, however, to leave some of the pictures buried deep within the vaults of technology, so I thought I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d briefly share a few of the interesting things I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve seen on the islands over the years.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=2512\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2512\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2512\" alt=\"IMG_5716\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/IMG_5716-1024x682.jpg\" width=\"637\" height=\"426\" \/><\/a>I discovered this on a walk one evening and was promptly smitten.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=2513\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2513\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2513\" alt=\"100_4787\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/100_4787-768x1024.jpg\" width=\"637\" height=\"852\" \/><\/a>Though these are certainly not unique to the island nor even to the Carolinas, I love some of the area bottle trees.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=2514\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2514\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2514\" alt=\"100_0711\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/100_0711-768x1024.jpg\" width=\"638\" height=\"853\" \/><\/a>I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve built many a snowman during all the years I spent in the Midwest, but there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s nothing like a beach snowman made mainly of sand.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=2515\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2515\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2515\" alt=\"100_0537\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/100_0537-1024x768.jpg\" width=\"638\" height=\"479\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/100_0537-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/100_0537-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 638px) 100vw, 638px\" \/><\/a>One early winter morning, a sudden drop in air temperature brought mist rising off the warm Atlantic waters.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=2516\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2516\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2516\" alt=\"100_4211\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/100_4211-1024x768.jpg\" width=\"637\" height=\"479\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/100_4211-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/100_4211-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 637px) 100vw, 637px\" \/><\/a>Mostly commonly, I see pelicans flying above the shoreline. But every once in a while, I stumble across a land-bound pelican who appears less fazed by my presence than I am by his.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=2517\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2517\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2517\" alt=\"100_5071\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/100_5071-1024x768.jpg\" width=\"637\" height=\"481\" \/><\/a>Military aircraft are commonplace along the coast, usually flying parallel to shore.<\/p>\n<p>If I had to pick a favorite sight, however, it would likely be this:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=2518\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2518\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2518\" alt=\"IMG_5512\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/IMG_5512-1024x336.jpg\" width=\"638\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a>It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s almost as if the shells arranged themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Almost.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Like most of you, I suspect, I could probably tell a story for every picture I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve ever taken.
