{"id":2440,"date":"2013-06-27T21:37:13","date_gmt":"2013-06-28T01:37:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?p=2440"},"modified":"2013-06-27T21:37:13","modified_gmt":"2013-06-28T01:37:13","slug":"full-on-summer-part-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?p=2440","title":{"rendered":"Full-on Summer: Part Three"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, I wrote about various summer beach activities, including <a title=\"Full-on Summer: Part One\" href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?p=2424\" target=\"_blank\">swimming, shelling, synchronized swimming moves<\/a>, and <a title=\"Full-on Summer: Part Two\" href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?p=2430\" target=\"_blank\">beach games<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But as we all know, summer on the island (and off-island, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m sure, as well) brings with it much, much more.<\/p>\n<p>And so, what\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s gone down on the island of late?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=2434\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2434\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2434\" alt=\"IMG_5483\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_5483-1024x682.jpg\" width=\"634\" height=\"425\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=2435\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2435\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2435\" alt=\"IMG_5440\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/IMG_5440-1024x581.jpg\" width=\"636\" height=\"363\" \/><\/a>First, the storms that have swept over us and into the Atlantic have been a sight to behold, dramatic in their arrival and quick in their departure. Summer storms just make you feel alive somehow, don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t they?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=2438\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2438\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2438\" alt=\"100_7404\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/100_7404-1024x768.jpg\" width=\"635\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=2439\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2439\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2439\" alt=\"100_7406\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/100_7406.jpg\" width=\"635\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a>As expected, the sea turtles have also arrived, leaving their marks up and down the beach. Some summer, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d love to volunteer to patrol a section of the beach each morning, checking for turtle tracks that might indicate a new nest. As this may require waking up at the crack of dawn and acting coherently <i>seven days a week<\/i>, however, let\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s just say I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m not sure that I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122d be the right woman for the job.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=2437\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2437\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2437\" alt=\"100_7503\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/100_7503-1024x768.jpg\" width=\"635\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a>Earlier this week, a boy on vacation with his family spent hours using a long stick to create these circle patterns up and down the beach. It was fascinating to see how focused and systematic he was, working his patterns across the sand.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/?attachment_id=2436\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2436\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-2436\" alt=\"100_7556\" src=\"http:\/\/www.anislandmom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/100_7556.jpg\" width=\"635\" height=\"367\" \/><\/a>Finally, my sons and one of their friends, a boy whose parents are cool enough to give their son a real shovel and not just a cheap beach shovel like some parents I know, spent the day making any number of sand creations, including this crop circle\/fortress\/sand swirl.<\/p>\n<p>And then, as it always does, the tide came in, claiming their work and leaving behind a canvas ripe for tomorrow\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s filling.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, I wrote about various summer beach activities, including swimming, shelling, synchronized swimming moves, and beach games.
