\"\"<\/a>My\u00c2\u00a0small people love it when low tide leaves a sandbar and what we call \u00e2\u20ac\u0153pools\u00e2\u20ac\u009d of water in the sand between the sandbar and the shore. So yesterday, when the boys got home from school, I announced that the pools were back and declared the afternoon a \u00e2\u20ac\u0153no homework\u00e2\u20ac\u009d afternoon. Usually, they get half an hour to relax (which typically amounts to 25 minutes of playing video games and 5 minutes of eating snacks) before they start their homework. However, if it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a nice day out and the\u00c2\u00a0pools of water appear, all time limits are off. \"\"Here\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s what they did. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

When the pools are deeper, like they were yesterday, they love to use their boogie boards to float on in the pools. They can stay for hours at times, only leaving when the tide starts coming in.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Our kids aren\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t the only ones who like the pools. The fishermen often do too. I am not one myself, but when I watch them standing or sitting on the sandbar like that, in the middle of it all, I can see the appeal.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>After 90 minutes of boogie boarding and jumping waves with Daddy, my\u00c2\u00a0daughter came in from the water and promptly made herself comfortable.<\/p>\n

Remember when you could sleep like that, with complete abandon? A half hour later, I carried her into the house. She opened her eyes once, closed them, and slept on the floor for another hour, wrapped in her Disney Princess towel.<\/p>\n
